PUBG's Vikendi Gets Bears, Moonlight, and Thermal Scopes – My Chaotic Review

I've survived countless chicken dinners, dodged more bullets than I care to remember, but nothing – and I mean nothing – prepared me for a bear trying to swipe my loot while I'm busy looting a cave. Welcome to the latest patch, where Vikendi becomes a frozen nightmare filled with fluffy murder machines, glowing skies, and scopes that see through walls. Or at least through the dark. 🐻 The Bear Necessities (Yes, I Went There)

First up: bears. Because who looked at Vikendi and thought, "You know what this map needs? Apex predators that can maul you while you're healing." These lumbering packs of malice have awoken from hibernation, and they're not here to cuddle. They look soft, but trust me, they're not your friendly neighborhood pets. If you get within a certain range, they will attack. You can kill them, but their stats don't count toward your profile, match history, or mastery. So basically, you get a fleeting sense of accomplishment and a new fur coat? No, just a corpse. Bear warning signs are scattered across the map, which is nice, but let's be real: if you're paying attention to signs, you're probably already dead.

Available in Normal Matches and Custom Matches on Vikendi only. So if you hate bears, avoid the snow. Simple.

🌙 Moonlight and Thermal: A Match Made in Heaven?

Remember when we all begged for Moonlight mode to return? Well, it's back, and it's as beautiful as ever. The aurora blooms in the serene darkness, and suddenly you feel like you're in a fairy tale – until someone with a Thermal 4x Scope spots your glowing heat signature from 300 meters away. That's right, the Thermal Scope from LABS: Thermal Scope Mode has been added to Vikendi as a world spawn. It uses heat signatures to detect obscured enemies, which is fantastic if you're the one holding it, and absolutely terrifying if you're not. Shouldn't it be your best friend in Moonlight weather? Sure, if your best friend is a cheating ex who sees everything.

Available in Training Mode, Normal Matches, and Custom Matches on Vikendi. On PC, you can also find it in Sandbox Mode on every map.

❄️ Blizzard Zone: Now With 100% Less Fire Damage

In a move that makes absolutely zero logical sense but somehow balances the game, smoke and flames from throwables no longer work properly inside the Blizzard Zone. So you can't hide in smoke, and you can't burn to death from a Molotov. Wait, what? You still take initial damage when the Molotov hits you, but after that, the blizzard just... puts you out? I guess the snow is very forgiving. Also, supply drops have been added to Vikendi caves, because nothing says "fun" like fighting bears in a dark cave for a crate.

🔫 Weapon Balance: Mk12 Gets a Slap on the Wrist

The Mk12 has been overperforming, so the devs decided to bring it down a notch. Here's the damage:

🚗 Vehicle Adjustments: Goodbye Open Roofs, Hello Trunks

The Zima got slightly bigger (compensating for something?), and open-roof models of the UAZ, Mirado, and Pickup Truck have been removed. Apparently, drivers were too vulnerable. Who knew? Dacia and UAZ now spawn in Taego. Trunks have been added to Pickup Trucks and UAZ with a capacity of 250. And you can finally hide your in-game vest and belt in settings. Fashion over function, am I right?

🏆 Ranked Season 22: Another Grind

A new ranked season has arrived, and with it, a leaderboard reset. You'll get rewards based on your final tier from last season. Parachute skin and Medals are permanent, but the rest are only usable for one season. So enjoy your fleeting glory before it's ripped away.

🎮 Custom Matches and Bug Fixes

Intense Battle Royale mode is now in Custom Matches, with 2-16 players, FPP/TPP, and selectable maps. The new Moonlight, Bear, and Thermal Scope have been added to Vikendi's Custom Match settings. Haven is also available. Plus, a ton of bug fixes: no more hearing footsteps where no one exists, no more weird jacket clipping, and no more falling through the map. The devs also fixed the issue where your teammate's rank showed as their Comeback BR rank. Because that was confusing, right?

🗺️ Map Rotation: Deston Returns, Taego Says Adios

Deston is back in the random map pool! Taego is out for a bit. The devs say they're planning a map rotation system change later this year based on feedback. So for now, enjoy Deston and Karakin. And if you're on console, your update comes a week later – February 22-23. Mark your calendars.
